When Bracknell Forest Council launched a digital service to allow residents to handle housing benefit and council tax discount claims online, it was inundated with people who wanted to create an account.

The council’s ‘MyBenefits’ account allows citizens to:

  • log-in using their Facebook, Google or Microsoft account,
  • open a claim and view current data online,
  • including payments made, payment dates and reductions.

In addition to improving the citizens’ user experience the citizen, the savings to the council are significant. Online services have resulted in fewer calls, less face-to-face appointments and the elimination of postage costs.
