London Borough of Hackney, one of the original signatories of the Local Digital Declaration, weren’t just looking at service transformation as a project with an endpoint but one that enables them to adapt and do it efficiently.
Combining an agile approach with commercial off-the-shelf software was a key step in the council’s long-term service transformation plan. Having identified an opportunity for a quick win in improving its service for people to report a change in circumstance in their Benefits, Hackney created a multi-disciplinary team, that through their experiences were able to discover the right outcomes and understand the needs of the user.
